Underfloor and Space HeatingSpace heating refers to modern technologies such as underfloor heating and smart radiators.
Imagine driving a brand new Ferrari with flat tyres – the car’s performance will be impaired. The same principle applies to the installation of a new heating system.
You could have the most efficient heat pump on the market but if the rest of your system is not working properly then you will not get the maximum benefits from the system.
About Underfloor Space Heating
By upgrading your underfloor heating and radiators you can help to reduce the running costs of your heating system. Underfloor heating should be a serious consideration if you are planning a major refurbishment but even if you are just upgrading your boiler system it could be worth upgrading your radiators at the same time. If you are installing a heat pump you are required to look at the whole heating system to make sure it complies with MCS standards to qualify for the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI). It can also contribute to a higher EPC rating when installing a Solar PV system.
Our experts consider every aspect of your heating system. Our holistic approach helps to ensure that that you get the maximum efficiency and returns from your investment.
Unlike heat pumps, there are no Government incentives for installing underfloor heating or new radiators. However, space heating can help to reduce the running costs of new and existing heating systems and future proof the businesses against hikes in utility bills.
Underfloor and Space heating FAQs
ARE my PREMISES suitable?
Underfloor heating is mostly used in ground-floor rooms. Systems are most easily installed where it’s possible to take up floors or where new floors are being constructed, so it is particularly suitable for new builds, refurbishments and extensions. It can be used with almost all types of flooring.
Is it expensive to run?
Underfloor heating uses lower temperature water than standard radiators so it needs less energy, making it cheaper to run.
Do underfloor and space heating systems leak?
The plastic water pipes are fitted in one continuous loop. Leaks are highly unlikely as there are no joints. The systems are generally considered to be maintenance-free. The manifolds that control the underfloor systems use automatic air vents – this means the circuits maintain themselves. All of our work carries an insurance-backed warranty.
Do the systems need to be on all the time?
Thermostatic controls allow you to set the system to come on and go off when you want. As with radiators, you turn them on and off as you require.
Can I still use radiators?
Underfloor heating is compatible with most heating systems, this means it can be integrated with an existing radiator system.
DESIGN & CONSULTANCY
All renewable energy systems need to be designed so they are specifically tailored to the premises. This is essential to ensure you qualify for the Government renewable energy incentives such as the Feed-in-Tariff and the Renewable Heat Incentive. We look at all aspects of your building so we can advise on how it can be made more energy-efficient and recommend the type of technology that suits you or your business.
